Terrence Howard Will Not Be Suiting Up As War Machine In Iron Man 2

According to Hollywood Reporter, Terrence Howard, the actor who played Tony Stark's friend Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes will not be reprising his role in the sequel to last summer's blockbuster film.  In his place will be actor Don Cheadle.

Marvel had no comment, but sources close to the deal said negotiations with Howard fell through over financial differences, among other reasons. Marvel, which had wanted to work with Cheadle, then decided to take the role in another direction and approached the actor, who is shooting Antoine Fuqua's "Brooklyn's Finest" with Richard Gere and Ethan Hawke.

Rhodes is expected to play a larger part in the sequel, which is rumored to go beyond high-tech villains.

I don't know how much Terrence was asking for, but I doubt it was so much that Marvel couldn't afford to pay it to him.  Afterall, the last Iron Man movie pretty much funded Marvel's comic book business for  the next hundred years or so.  So how much could he have possibly asked for?

Oh well, Don Cheadle is a great actor though.  So it's not like this is a big hit to the film.  It just sucks when a franchise has to start replacing actors this early on.
