Star Wars Storyboards

Flickr user Michel Heilemann has posted up a number of really great pieces of original storyboard art from the first Star Wars Trilogy

These are early storyboards from Star Wars, some from even before the Falcon was changed to its current design. I took them from Hyperspace's Insider SUpplement, where they weren't being given quite the attention they deserve for their relative rarity (in fact, starwars.com seems to lose relevance and usefulness with each redesign).

I actually totally agree with that last statement.  Starwars.com should be a treasure trove of information for fans about the creation of the movies.  Making of, behind the scenes, all of that stuff should be featured prominently on the site, but it's almost entirely absent.

But thanks to Mr. Heilemann, we can still enjoy these classic pieces of Star Wars history.  He also has a large collection of other Star Wars pictures as well on his flickr account, including a great set of Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for the films.  All told, he has collected over 1,300 images of Star Wars for fellow geeks to enoy and drool over.

I've already gone ahead and made the above image my computer's wallpaper.
