Oh Thank God!!!

The Graysons TV show is not getting made afterall!  A while back I reported on a new TV show that was in the works for the CW network that would be like a Batman-ish version of their show Smallville.  Instead of a young Bruce Wayne though, the show would focus on a young pre-Robin era Dick Grayson.  The show was going to be called The Graysons, and it would be about young Dick (who would be called DJ for some god awful reason on the show) and his family of circus performers and the challenges they faced.

The show's premise sounded absolutely atrocious, and comic geeks everywhere lamented the crap they were surely bound to have to endure in the coming months.  However, today word has broken that we have been saved.  The Graysons show has been cancelled while still in pre-production.

Decision to yank the project came from Warner Bros. Pictures Group prexy Jeff Robinov, who initially gave his blessing but changed his mind in recent days.

"Warner Bros. TV never had 100% clearance," said one exec familiar with the project.

The CW had been counting on "The Graysons" to fill the void left by the likely series end of "Smallville". Like "Smallville," "The Graysons" is a superhero origins story. Show was developed to revolve around the world of Dick "DJ" Grayson before taking on the iconic Robin identity.

All I have to say to this is, "Thank you Jeff Robinov!!!"  You have saved comic book fans everywhere from having to sit through what would have undoubtedly been a show on par with the utter crapfest that was the Birds of Prey show.  We are all in your debt Jeff.  You are our saviour.
