Own A Piece Of The Galactica

What would you do if you were a television network, and one of your most popular science fiction shows was wrapping up and you suddenly find yourself left with tons of props and sets and other bits from the show that couldn't be reused on any other show?  Would you just toss the stuff out, or would you take advantage of the show's die-hard fanbase and sell all of the items at an auction?  Well duh, of course you'd have the auction.  Why throw stuff away when fans will pay top dollar for any little bit of the show?

That's exactly what NBC/Universal are doing.  On January 17th and 18th, tons of props and set pieces from Battlestar Galactica are going to be put up for auction for the public to buy, and the items going up on the block are amazing. Number Six's slinky red dress, Admiral Adama's uniform, Starbuck's pilot jumpsuit, and so much more.  Here's some other cool stuff up for auction

  • A full size viper pilot helmet.

  • President Roslin's desk

  • The Arrow of Apollo

  • Col. Tigh's liquor bottle

  • Consoles from the CIC

  • Production sketches

  • Set plans

And then there's the granddaddy of them all.  A full scale Colonial viper (pictured above).  Holy crap, just imagine having your own viper chilling out in your back yard.  How awesome would that be?  Just get yourself a little greenscreen material to put around the cockpit and you could totally make your own Battlestar fan films.

I would totally buy the viper if it wasn't for the fact that I'm poor and could never fit it in my tiny studio apartment.
