Is V about to make a comeback?

Remember the old 80's show V, about an alien invasion of earth? Well the show may be getting a remake coming up. IO9.com is reporting that the original creator of the show is shopping around a script for a big screen remake of the show.

I loved V as a kid, and while I don't necessarily think that it should get a big screen remake, I totally think it should get a TV remake. The show would be a perfect show to replace Battlestar Galactica on the Sci-fi channel after it ends early next year. And the show has the perfect plot for a Battlestar style remake.

The basic premise of the show is that aliens arrive on earth in huge motherships that hover over our big cities. But the aliens don't attack. Instead the ships open up and people that look just like us pop out and say they're here to be our friends. The world falls in love with the Visitors, as they eventually become called, and much happiness ensues.

But the problem is, the Visitors are lying to us. They're not human looking at all. They're actually big lizard people in people suits, and they're lying to us to cover up their secret motives, which involves stealing our water, getting a few girls pregnant, and being all around douchebags to the world at large.

I would love to see a dark, gritty version of V that is similar to Battlestar. Where you can't tell who is human and who is a Visitor. It would make for great TV in my opinion.
