GeekRoundTable Has A New Podcast Up!

GeekRoundTable is an incredibly funny podcast that is put together by a bunch of fellow geeks, including some of the people who help in putting together the San Diego Comic Con.  The podcasts themselves cover a wide variety of geek topics such as movies, comics and video games.  There are also the occasional philosphical debates that take place about what being a geek means, what is or is not geeky, or what things are currently cool in geek culture.

Last week they posted up their latest podcast (you can listen to it here).  At around 2 hours long, it's a lot of bang for your buck.  The majority of this particular podcast focuses on reflections back to Comic Con 2008.  What rocked about it, what went wrong, why certain things didn't work, etc.

Listening to the podcast, you'll learn such things as:

  • Nobody beats Batman in a versus fight...ever!

  • "Nuke The Fridge" is the new "Jump The Shark".

  • Harry Knowles sucks the dick of the film industry.

  • The people at G4 are a bunch of lying pricks.

  • If the Hulk ever runs for president, he'll be a candidate for the Green Party, and he will end the Iraq war in a single day by going there personally to handle things.

A really good debate is also had about why non-comic panels are allowed at the Comic Con, such as panels for the TV shows 24 and Prison Break.  Having actually sat in on the Prison Break panel, I can definitely attest to the fact that the panel definitely did not belong at comic con.

I, of course, wasn't actually there to see the Prison Break panel.  I've never even seen Prison Break and don't care to anytime soon.  I just got into the room really early so I was guaranteed a spot in the Avatar: the Last Airbender panel that went on immediately after the Prison Break Panel.  The problem was, so was about 85% of the room.  Seriously, almost no one in that room was there to see the stars of Prison Break.  We were all just big Avatar fans who had to sit and wait for this god awful show's panel to end.  The audience was dead for the entire panel, except for once when a person in an Avatar cosplay outfit got up to ask a question of the people on stage.  The crowd gave the guy wearing the costume a far louder and more excited round of cheering than anyone on stage got.  It was sad.

Anyways, the podcast is good.  It is fun, and you should listen to it.  Some warnings though.  If you are not a fan of crass language, you shouldn't listen to it because they are fond of cussing...a lot.  But then again, if you aren't a fan of crass language, what the fuck are you doing reading this site?  I'm a fan of cussing to.

Also, if you are a Furry, I highly suggest you don't listen to the show.  The GeekRoundTable isn't too keen on Furries.  Especially Matt.

And Finally, an award goes to Wes from the GeekRoundTable for saying the word fuck more times in a single sentence than I've ever heard anyone ever say it before.  The following is a direct quote of Wes' from the show.  It takes place during the debate about Prison Break being allowed at con.  I've edited it only where he stuttered a little, otherwise every word is his:

I think we should get together at the fucking convention, and the fans who are fucking there to buy comic books, and who are there to see fucking geeky shit should fucking voice their fucking complaints and say, “Why the fuck do I have to go fucking cram myself in to go see fucking deep space nine bullshit with fucking a million people who can’t get in when fucking Hall H isn’t full because fucking prison break’s in there?”.

That's eleven fucks in a single sentence.  Way to go Wes.

And I actually totally fucking agree with Wes' opinion here. Fucking preach on brother, fucking preach on!
