Where Was The Two Fisted Hammer Punch?

I loved the new Star Trek.  LOVED it.  When Chekov got his V's and W's mixed up, I literally giggled like Homer Simpson.  That being said, there was one giant flaw. I was convinced that at least once, ONCE, in the miriad of other Star Trek: TOS homages thrown into the new film, that Jim Kirk would at least once, two fisted hammer punch someone.

Kirk had about a million opportunities.  I know, I saw the film at a Drive-In so I was yelling "TWO FISTED HAMMER PUNCH" every time I saw one.  So think of this post as an accompanyment to the film.  If I new how to edit movies at all, I would have made a montage, you will have to settle for these videos.

  1. The film was also missing Kirk's patented one handed open chop to the neck, his drop kick, the famous Kirk roll and the two legged kick which he typically uses when he's been thrown onto a table or something. I was very disappointed that he was actually using closed fist punches through the whole film. This new Kirk doesn't fight like the old kirk at all.

  2. Maybe he hasn't learned those fighting skills yet.
I'd also like to say that I was clapping and giggling like a little school girl all through the film. My friend who saw the movie with me was very amused. Seriously I never thought i'd enjoy something Trek that much. I really want to go back and watch the old series again.

I did it during the Salvation trailer too. I've been going duh-duh-duh duhduh! For weeks now to the point where Shelley said if I do it one more time I can't go see the new movie!
The girl next to me squeeled in terror every time they showed the t-100 Erin in trailer, it was pretty funny.
Back to Trek (this response is all over the place!) what do you think of the new enhanced episodes of the original series that just got released?

  3. I'm operating under the belief that they'll be in the next film because you can't give fans everything they want in the first film. You've got to save some things for the sequel, right? Just like Dr. McCoy's famous line, "He's dead Jim." That wasn't in the film either, but they had so many quotes in this film that I don't mind. If it's in the sequel, awesome. You've got to still have something left to look forward to.
Mike, I share your sentiments on Terminator. I'm super excited for that one too. Don't let Shelley's threats dampen your spirits. Keep singing the song! Duh-duh-duh duhduh!

  4. Personally, I totally dig the remastered versions of the original episodes. They did a great job of making the new effects still fit in with the old show so they don't distract from the story. They went out of their way to make the effects cool, but still with enough retro-cheese that they blend in fairly seemlessly. The Enterprise, for example, looks great, but it still has that 60's model kit feel to it. It has kept the essence of the original effects intact. I've heard the new Blu-ray releases of the series are even better looking. I can't wait to see those.
