Kotaku is reporting that a record number of people have downloaded the demo for the upcoming Star Wars game The Force Unleashed.
Lucasarts announced yesterday that over a million people have downloaded the Force Unleashed demo for the 360, a figure that apparently set a new speed record for the console (fastest to 1 million downloads, which it hit in eight days). Over 1.3 million people downloaded the demo on the PS3. That gives us a grand total of 2.3 million downloads. For a week and a half, that's a lot.
This just continues to prove the sad point that no matter how badly George Lucas destroys the franchise with bad idea after bad idea, die-hard fanboys (including myself) will continue to get in line for whatever product gets a Star Wars label slapped on it.
Yes, we're sad sad people. It's true. But we can't help ourselves. We have such wonderful memories from childhood that we keep hoping some day something will come along and make us feel like that again. Unfortunately, all we ever get is stuff like Jar Jar Binks, Midichlorians and Ziro the Hutt.
