Great Geek Music
As I was wondering the internets this morning, I came across the blog for Bear McCreary. Never heard of him before? Well I bet you've heard some of his work. He's a music composer who has worked on some great Scifi shows such as Battlestar Galactica, Eureka and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
His music is outstanding. If you're a fan of any of those shows you'll agree how much the music sets the tone for each of them in such an important way that without it, the show wouldn't be the same. The heavy drumming during the high tension moments in Battlestar, the happy-go-lucky feel of Eureka, it's all thanks to Mr. McCreary.
Reading his blog, I realized that he's had a good portion of his work released for purchase as soundtracks. This lead me to finding La La Land Records, which turned out to be a treasure trove of awesome geek music.
They've got tons of awesome soundtracks. Along with Battlestar's soundtracks and Eureka, while wandering their catalog I found soundtracks from films and shows such as Batman: Gotham Knight, Teen Titans, Blazing Saddles, The Dark Crystal, Farscape, Justice League: New Frontier, Mirrormask and Spaceballs.
Unfortunately, the Masters of the Universe soundtrack is currently sold out.
