Name: Patrick Roach
Patrick has been a geek since birth, well almost. The very first film he ever saw in theaters was the original Star Wars. He was only two months old. Since then, it’s been one long road of continuing geekiness, with Star Wars playing a major role in shaping the rest of his life. Growing up, he was a huge fan of shows like GI Joe, Transformers, Thundercats and many more. When he wasn’t watching cartoons, he was obsessively playing the original Legend of Zelda on the NES. At around the age of seven or so, he was introduced to the original Star Trek series. At nine, Star Trek: TNG began airing. That series is what really cemented his love of Trek and sci-fi in general. To be honest though, Patrick’s favorite Trek series is Deep Space Nine.
In high school, Patrick spent most of his free time playing RPG’s such as D&D, Rifts and the old D6 Star Wars RPG from West End Games. He’s been both a player and a gamemaster, but he prefers to be behind the screen and telling stories. He’s an active video game player as well and has kept up his gaming through the Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PS One, Gamecube, PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360 systems.
Name: Mike Noyes
Mike was doomed to a life of geekdom before he was even born. The specific life altering moment in question can be pinned down to one evening when his father and pregnant mother went to a screening of Star Wars in 1977. Mike may not have seen the film then, but the iconic sounds of blasters, lightsabers, R2's beeping and booping, Chewie's growls, Luke's whining, and Vader's ominous breathing penetrated Mike's defenseless developing brain. Poor kid never had a chance.
As a kid he embraced this deeply embedded geekiness, even though he didn't really fully understand what it was at the time. He played with countless G.I. Joes, Transformers, Gobots, He-Mans, MASKs, Battle Beasts, Ninja Turtles and any other novelty plastic item he could get his grubbly little Cheeto stained fingers on. He also, of course, had Star Wars figures, oodles and oodles of them.
As he grew older his tastes changed. For a while he got into comics, but quickly grew bored with it. Nintendo also became a big part of his life and video games were not cheap back in the day my friend. Some time in the early 90's Mike made a return to comics though, after being introduced to a popular series at the time called Infinity Gauntlet. Mike was blown away and quickly fell back into comics, devoting every penny he could to the industry.
These days Mike is in his early 30's. He lives with his wife and two cats in a tiny mouse infested shithole in San Francisco. As well as being a comic geek, Mike is also a movie and music geek. He has over 110 gigs (over 20,000 songs) of music in his itunes library covering almost every genre and dating back to the earliest recorded music. Mike is currently attempting to finish his final thesis film and lock down that Masters Degree from The Academy of Art San Francisco that his been alluding him since 2007. Mostly he is busy over at Inside Pulse where he regularly writes movie reviews and movie news.
Mike also hates writing about himself in the third person.
Name: Johann Joseph
When Johann was a little kid, his dad brought home a VHS copy of Star Wars: A New Hope. He's been hooked to the geek world ever since. The First movie he ever saw in the theaters was Return Of The Jedi. In the 3rd grade, he started on the path of D&D, which led to other pen & paper RPG's such as Gamma World and even TMNT. His true love though came in the form of a white & red gaming system called The Famicom. He played Atari when he was younger, but playing Ice Climbers was a new dimension for him in gaming.
Johann is into a lot of things in the geekdom. Star Wars, LOTR, Transformers, TMNT and The Flash (his favorite all time comic book character) to name a few. Video games are his main vice though. They have their sweet strangle hold on him and they're never letting go.
