Horrible marketing idea of the day

Puma shoes has announced the release of the shoes you see above.  In a blatant attempt to squeeze every possible penny out of the pockets of Goonies fans, Puma has created one of, if not the worst, marketing tie-ins I've ever seen.

How horrible are these shoes?  I don't even know where to begin.  I guess I'll start with the most obvious.  They're hideous.  Seriously, could they have made these shoes any uglier?  They look like they were designed by a hyperactive five year old who is color blind.  Ugh.

And how could Puma possibly miss out on the most obvious of Goonie/shoe related merchandise?  Slick shoes!!!  How cool would it have been to make a basic 80's looking sneaker that has the heels pop out so you can squirt oil behind you.  Sure they're messy, and it would be a lawsuit waiting to happen, but the amount of shoes they sold would offset any court costs they'd have to pay.

The only redeemable thing about the shoes is the bag they come in.  It looks pretty cool.  If only we could take the Puma logo off of the front though.
