People Sure Do Scream "Nooooooooooooooo!" A Lot
Out of random curiosity (and a goodly bit of boredom) I decided on a whim to go to youtube and type the word "Nooooooooo" into the search bar. I did this thinking someone must have posted that hilarious clip of Darth Vader screaming it at the end of Episode III. What I found though was so much better.
Someone has put together an awesome compilation of characters screaming some variation of "Nooooo!" from all sorts of different TV shows and movies. I hadn't really thought about it until I watched the clip, but people tend to shout "Noooooo!" a lot in movies and on TV. I don't know what it is, but it seems to be the "go to" word when something tragic is happening.
And yes, I did find the Darth Vader clip included amongst the many Nooooo's, but for the record, my favorite three Nooooooo's from the compilation are as follows:
3rd Place: Starscream from the Transformers cartoon - It's all about the echo effects of his Nooooooooo as he floats off into space. It just sort of trails off as he flies away, almost as if he was still screaming it but he's now too far away for us to hear it.
2nd Place: Captain Picard from the movie Star Trek: First Contact - Aside from the fact that Patrick Stewart can make anything sound cooler just because his voice is so awesome, his Noooooo here is a solid double Noooooo. It starts off small and then builds to a higher level. And if you can smash a conveniently located glass display to help you make your point, then that just adds to the strength of the Noooooo.
1st Place: Luke Skywalker from The Empire Strikes Back - As awesome as Vader's Noooooooo was at the end of Episode Three, it pales in comparison to the Noooooooo his son belts out at the end of Episode Five. But that's Luke for you, always trying to one up his dad. Luke's delivery of the Nooooooo is amazing. His face gets all scrunched up and he looks like a pissed off five year old kid who was just told that his favorite toy has been broken. To heighten his anguish, Luke screams Nooooo multiple times and adds a tone of ragged inflection into his voice, almost like the Noooooo was so hard that it hurt his vocal chords to produce it. Congrats Luke, you have the greatest movie Noooooooo of all time!
