New Geek DVD Day - 10/07/08
The Good: The Simpsons - The Complete Eleventh Season
Why It's Good: It's The Simpsons, so it has to be good for someone, right? I stopped caring about The Simpsons a few years ago, but I know that they're still huge to a ton of people, and so they have been included on this list. Let it never be said that I don't include things I'm not a huge fan of on this site.
The Badass: How I Met Your Mother - Season Three
Why It's Badass: It's one of the best written sitcoms I've seen in years. The characters are believable, and the show is downright funny. And if you think the show doesn't have Geek cred, ponder this: The show stars Neil Patrick Harris, Allison Hannigan (Willow from Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Jason Segal (from Freaks and Geeks). And the first episode of the 4th season of the show is all about whether Ted can marry a woman who has never seen Star Wars. It that geek enough for you?
The Awesome: Robot Chicken - Season Three
Why It's Awesome: How someone had never previously thought of making a show using stop-motion animated toys is beyond me. It's pure brilliance. And with super geeks like Seth Green and Breckin Meyer writing the show, the result is pure comic gold. When the show first came out I thought it was awesome but I figured they would quickly run out of material and the show would end after a season or so. But here we are, three seasons later and the show is still going strong. I'm glad to say I was wrong here. This is a show geeks of all kinds can love. It mocks everything we watched as kids and we love it for doing so.
