Leon And Claire Are Together Again...To Shoot More Zombies

This film was actually announced forever ago, but aside from a teaser trailer that was released shortly after the announcement it was being made, we haven't seen much footage from the film.  But now...finally...a full trailer is out.

Resident Evil: Degeneration is a full length CG animated movie based on the uber awesome survival horror games of the Resident Evil Series.  And as opposed to the live action Resident Evil movies starring my dream girl Milla Jovovich (which aren't bad films actually), this movie will actually be following the video game timelines and stories.

The movie will be released directly to DVD at some point in the future and will star the main characters from Resident Evil 2; Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy.  The S. stands for Badass Motherfucker.  Here's a plot synopsis with sketchy english that I found on the movie's official homepage:

The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City was ended with the eradication of the deadly virus by a missile attack ordered by the government. As its operations were suspended on a global scale, Umbrella Corporation stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution.

7 years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States. An ordinary autumn afternoon. One zombie is unleashed into this peaceful scene to attack everyone. In the airport starting to fill up with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to be repeat itself...

The "Umbrella Incident" of course refers to the events that took place in Resident Evil's 1 and 2 in which the virus originally breaks out and poor Raccoon City is eventually nuked off the face of the planet.  So as to ensure they don't have to nuke another city this time around, the government sends in Leon to stop the spread of the T. Virus.  And, Leon being Leon, lots of violence ensues.

It looks like Claire just happens to be unlucky enough to be at the airport when the outbreak starts, and so she gets caught up teaming with Leon again.

I'm actually pretty stoked to see this film.  It looks a lot like Final Fantasy: Advent Children, which pretty fucking awesome just for Tifa's battle alone.  Can Capcom repeat, or even possibly top, what Square-Enix accomplished with their film?  I certainly hope so.
