Happy Star Trek Day

Well, after a long LONG wait, the new Star Trek movie is finally here.  I'll be going to see the film this afternoon and should have a full review up for you by Monday morning.  In the meantime though, here's some random Star Trek related things to keep you amused.

This first video is almost too awesome for words.  This is what happens when the Enterprise Crew decide to mess with the Galactic empire.  I absolutely love the Stormtrooper's response at the end of the video.  Booya!  Ding dong!

This next item is one of the strangest things you'll ever see.  It's a very young Leonard Nimoy singing a song about Bilbo Baggins, the character from The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings books.  Yeah, I have no idea how the hell this ever got made either, but I believe the world is a little bit radder because of it.

This next video is an amusing little animated bit that ponders what Star Trek would be like if it was made as a teen comedy from the early 1990's.  I love that Bones is a stoner and that Khan is the big dumb jock guy in a pink polo shirt.

And Finally, Slate has a very interesting article up on the creation of the Klingon language, which is apparently more complex and difficult to learn than you would imagine.  It looks like the Klingons are fond of complex grammatical structures.  Who would have guessed?

I hope you all can make it out to the theaters this weekend to lend the new Trek film your support.  Lord knows that we can never have enough Star Trek in the world.  If this film does really well, maybe Paramount will go ahead and make a new TV series for us to watch.

  1. That's great stuff. I especially love the fist bump between the two stormtroopers at the end of the Death Star video. Nothing like seeing the stormtroopers exhibit proper personality.
