Lately, I've been contemplating moving out of California eventually. Not anytime soon mind you (I do love it here), but eventually. If I ever wish to actually own a home and not spend 75% of my income on a tiny ass apartment rental, I am going to have to move out of state .
I've been looking at other states to try to decide where I'd like to one day maybe go. Today however, I have definitely ruled out ever moving to Utah. Not only did the state's senate of Utah pass a bill today that severely punishes videogame retailers for selling M rated games to kids without ID'ing them, but they also did this:
The Utah Senate has decided against allowing the sale of full-strength draft beer in bars and restaurants.
Currently, draft beer can contain no more than 3.2 percent alcohol by weight, or 4 percent by volume.
That cap would have been lifted under House Bill 349, sponsored by Rep. Curtis Oda, R-Clearfield. Most beer contains about 5 percent alcohol by volume and is watered down for sale in Utah.
The bill was approved 58-2 in the House. But on Thursday, the last day of the session, the Senate decided not to debate the measure and to go home early instead.
Bars and restaurants are already allowed to serve full-strength beer if they buy it in bottles from the state liquor store at the same 86 percent markup paid by the general public.
No beer with an alcohol content over 3.2% ?!?!?! What the fuck!?!?!?! What kind of messed up law is that? Every beer, and I mean EVERY BEER has at least an average alcohol content of around 5%. That means that even crap beer like Budweiser and Coors have to be watered down in the state of Utah?
Fuck that. I'd rather move to Texas first. And that's saying a lot, believe me.
