Wired has a great little list up called The Best Fictional Doomsday Devices. It lists eight of the greatest machines ever that were designed, either intentionally or unintentionally, with enough power to destory everything.
Among the list you'll find such fun items as Doc Ock's artifical Sun from Spider-man 2, the Death Star, and the Moonraker platform from the James Bond film of the same name.
