Top 10 Worst Halloween Candies
We've all been there. You're walking down the street on Halloween tric-or-treating. You spot a big and expensive looking house with some pumpkins out front, there's even a few decorations. You think to yourself, "Score, we're going there next". Giddy with excitement, you walk up the path to the door and ring the bell. A couple of seconds later, and old lady answers the door. You yell "Trick or treat!" and hold out your bag expectantly. Visions of Snickers bars and and bags of M&M's running through your head.
The old lady looks delighted to see you, and smiles to you as she says, "Happy Halloween". But her smile is a lie. She's an evil, vile old lady. There are no Snickers bars to be found here. Instead she drops a box of Raisins into your bag!!!
Trying your best not to look dejected (thank god for those full face covering masks) you say thank you and walk away. But inwardly you are angry, sad, and you make a mental note never to come back to this house ever again.
Getting crummy candy on Halloween sucks. It's something we've all had to deal with before. And now the good folks over at seriouseats.com have come up with a great list called the Top 10 Worst Halloween Candies. It's got all the classics in there; the aforementioned raisins, candy corn, even toothbrushes.
However, one item is strangely missing. Maybe it was just the neighborhood I grew up in, but there used to be a large number of old ladies who would hand out handfuls of pennies to trick or treaters. Did anyone else ever meet these ladies? They were so annoying, because they wouldn't even give you enough money to do anythng with. They'd give you like 8 cents and that was it. What the hell was that all about?
