Holy Schnikes! A Battlestar Galactica Boardgame!

A company called Fantasy Flight Games has put together a rather amazing looking Battlestar Galactica boardgame.  That's the game board pictured above.  It looks to be pretty swanky.

Recreate the tension and mystery of the critically acclaimed show by serving as Admiral of the Colonial Fleet, President of the Colonies or just another hot-shot viper jockey. The human race will need each of you to survive…

Unless you're a Cylon, of course.

The game looks to be heavily card based, with players taking control of characters from the show and trying to accomplish specific goals in order to win.  Your goals will depend on whether you're a human or a cylon though.

At the beginning of the game, each player is dealt a face-down card from the Loyalty Deck. These cards separate the Cylons and Cylon sympathizers from human characters. Human players will try to rally all of their resources into solving the many crises in the game, while players who side with the Cylons will secretly undermine those efforts. More cards from the Loyalty Deck are dealt out midway through the game (in the Sleeper Agent Phase). At this point, someone who had been whole-heartedly supporting the humans may find out they were a Cylon all along!

This sounds really fun.  Some of the players are Cylons, but no one knows who is or who isn't one.  That's so cool.  What a perfect way to capture the feel of the show's first few seasons when no one in the fleet knew who was Cylon and who wasn't.  And how much fun will it be to play a Cylon in the game and secretly work against everyone else to cause the downfall of humanity.

I love games with duplicitous intent built into the game mechanics.  So awesome!!!  I'm definitely going to have to pick this one up and give it a try.

I wonder if there are cards that say, "You have to frak one of the other players".  As we all know, there sure is a lot of frakking going on aboard the galactica.
